The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center is currently seeking nominations for its annual Community Awards, which will be presented during our annual "An Evening with Women" fundraiser and celebration on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at The Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Given each year to local lesbian and bisexual women, these prestigious awards honor those who have made significant contributions to the LGBT community through professional work, volunteer outreach or both. Any local woman is eligible for nomination, with the exception of previous Award winners, current Center Board members and Center employees.

The Awards are one of the only opportunities our community has to honor local women who are working tirelessly towards improving the health and well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Award categories include arts & entertainment, grassroots activism, public service, professional achievement, spirituality, and extraordinary volunteerism.

Nominations should include a written description of the nominee's accomplishments and contributions to the LGBT community, particularly highlighting what makes the woman a role model for other lesbian and bisexual women. Successful nominations are typically several pages in length and fully discuss the nominees' contributions and their impact.

You may submit nomination forms online, fax the downloaded form to (323) 308-4417, or mail it to Katie Pomerantz, Events Coordinator at the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, 1625 N. Schrader Blvd., Los Angeles CA 90028-6213. The deadline for nominations is March 10, 2010.

Funds raised support a wide range of women’s programming at the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, including women’s health, legal assistance, domestic violence prevention & education, and cultural programs designed especially for women.

Guests must RSVP and be over the age of 21 to attend. Invite non-transferable.
