Becoming a YPC Member

The YPC is actively recruiting new members. Prospective members must be referred by an existing member. If you're interested, send an e-mail and introduce yourself. In an effort to reflect the diversity of the community, the YPC is interested in people from many different backgrounds.

Here are answers to commonly asked questions about membership:

What are the eligibility requirements?

YPC members are under the age of 40, passionate about the group’s mission, and excited to contribute their skills and resources to support the Center. Members come from a variety of backgrounds and work with the Center to engage other people in our generation as volunteers and donors.

After you reach out to introduce yourself, we will send you an application with a few questions about your areas of interest and background. We’ll give you a tour of the Center, followed by an interview with another YPC member. YPC is a close-knit and supportive group and seeks members who will take an active role in the group.

What kind of commitment would I be making?

The YPC has monthly board meetings and each member also joins a committee, which holds additional meetings. Members work on a variety of initiatives throughout the year by contributing through our diverse backgrounds, contacts, ideas and creativity.  Each YPC member also becomes a member of the Center at the $500/year level (or higher) and commits to raising $1,000.

Raising $1,000 might sound like a lot, but the YPC empowers our members' fundraising efforts as we plan events throughout the year and utilize our social networks and personalized web pages.

What are the benefits of membership?

Aside from the obvious reward of doing something significant to help your community, as a member of the YPC you'll play an integral role in the success and future of the Center and the demographic we seek to support.

You'll get to meet new people and expand your social and professional network, attend fabulous events (some of which you'll help plan), involve more young people in the Center's work, and act as a role model for other young people. YPC members are listed in the Center's annual report, website, and other promotional materials and are featured in the Center newsletter.
